The works of the artists invited by the curators – painter József Baksai, a regular member of HAA, and painter György Verebes, also a regular member of HAA – are presented according to themes organized along catchwords, which serve as a guiding thread to help interpret the exhibition and to systematically see the works of prominent figures in Hungarian fine art that belong to the responsible emotional/thoughtful range.
In his opening speech Attila Turi said: "For the third time since 2014, the diversity and fullness of nuances of the past five years of contemporary Hungarian fine art are being revealed to us."
"Every year the current national salon plays a distinguished role in the life of our academy, which is also a statement of what the public body and the curator of the representative selection consider to be outstanding or defining works from the past half decade within a particular art branch."
The President emphasized: we cannot compromise on one fundamental principle, and this is the requirement of lasting quality. This is "an example that strengthens national culture, a command to form a value trend."
"The members of the academy are united, among other things, by the idea that we would like to make art accessible to everyday people in some way, a natural part of their daily lives. We believe that sophisticated art lifts the soul to the sky, transforms the life of the individual, and thereby has an impact on our narrower and broader communities," said Attila Turi.
„The title of the exhibition is: Irreplaceable Objects. This name can be interpreted as a slogan, or even a maxim," he emphasized, adding: „In the universe of interchangeable objects human presence is diminished unless it also ties its existence to non-interchangeable objects." According to the President: „our real conversations cannot be replaced by chat room messages, hugs by smileys." Therefore, he encouraged visitors to Műcsarnok to never settle for anything less than the real and genuine. „After all, the real artistic experience and the real artistic value are irreplaceable."
