HAA at Art Market Budapest

This year Art Market Budapest, the largest international fine arts fair in Central and Eastern Europe, was held for the fifteenth time between October 16 and 19. The event was held at a new location, the MTK Sportpark hall, community spaces and park, built on an area of 95 thousand square meters and meeting the technical needs of the 21st century. The event awaited its visitors and exhibitors from nearly twenty-five countries. At the current HAA presented itself for the first time with a large-scale contemporary exhibition spanning several generations, entitled RASZTER.

The exhibition entitled RASZTER, which opened at the HAA's stand, is a special undertaking, where visitors could see a taste of the works of the Academy's scholarship holders, public body members and academicians, based on a curatorial selection. The exhibition, which includes fifty-two works by forty-one exhibitors, is not built around a single style or theme, but is permeated by the natural flow of creative freedom, the freedom of art, curated by József Szurcsik, a graphic artist and a regular member of the HAA, as well as Tibor Iski Kocsis, a painter, graphic artist and a corresponding member of HAA.

"It is an honour for us to be able to join this prestigious international art fair as an active participant, the spirit of which has been of paramount importance in the field of popularizing visual art for a decade and a half now. The exhibition entitled RASZTER is the imprint of the broad and cross-generational professional focus of the Hungarian Academy of Arts, which well reflects our dedication to representing contemporary Hungarian art for both domestic and international audiences. Its aim is to sensitively and authentically reflect the diversity of the Academy's professional work and to provide insight into the fresh, living fabric of Hungarian fine and applied arts," said Zoltán Rátóti, the Vice-President of HAA.

On the opening (zero) day of the event President Attila Turi, Vice-Presidents Zoltán Rátóti and János Kiss, and Secretary General Gábor Richly paid tribute from the HAA's presidency at the Art Market Budapest, to whom Chief Curator József Szurcsik presented the exhibition of HAA. The senior officials of HAA also visited the other stands at the event, led by Attila Ledényi, Founder and CEO of Art Market Budapest, who highlighted that the most characteristic keyword of the event this year is "novelty", which means that the key to the success of such regularly organized, large-scale events is both constancy and change. In other words, it is necessary to remain reliable, while being able to show something new to the audience interested in contemporary fine art every year.
