Klebelsberg and the Arts

Fence exhibition at HAA's office building
 
A fence exhibition consisting of fourteen panels, which focuses on the relationship between cultural politician Kuno Klebelsberg and the arts, opened at the office building of HAA on 18 September. The exhibition material is partly based on the collection of the Hungarian Architectural Museum and is also connected to HAA institutions, Pesti Vigadó and Műcsarnok. Attila Turi, President of HAA gave the opening speech, and the exhibition was opened by Anita Kiss-Hegyi, State Secretary for Cultural Relations at the Ministry of Culture and Innovation as well as Péter Szollár, Managing Director of Pro Cultura Nonprofit Ltd., which maintains the Klebelsberg Memorial House.

Sculptor György Bartusz passed away

On 25 September 2025 in Košice at the age of 92 György Bartusz, a sculptor, painter, graphic artist and action artist who won the Mihály Munkácsy Award, an outstanding artist of modern figurative and memorial sculpture, a defining figure of Central European avant-garde art, and a regular member of HAA passed away. HAA regards his passing as losing one of its own.

Jesuit Set Designs in Rome at the exhibition of HAA

The exhibition is presenting the world of Baroque Jesuit theatre, the special encounter of faith, art and theatrical illusion through 17th-18th century engravings from the Jesuit set design book of Sopron. The exhibition, which can be viewed in the courtyard of the Falconieri Palace of the Hungarian Academy in Rome until 31 December, was organized by HAA. On 18 September at the opening of the exhibition actor Zoltán Rátóti, Vice-President of HAA gave a welcoming speech.

In the footsteps of Bartók in Turkey

János Sipos, a folk music researcher talked about his work in an interview published recently on Napútonline. The turning point in János Sipos's life was when he and his Turkologist wife took up a university position in Ankara. During his many years of residence in Turkey, his attractive life goal with great prospects was formulated: the musical research of the Turkish people. He spent about ten years in Turkish-speaking areas, collecting, and he left a record of more than 10,000 melody recordings, data and comparative analyses on the table of folk music research.

Ferenc Buda, poet and translator passed away

On 16 September, at the age of 89, Ferenc Buda, poet and translator, an Artist of the Nation and regular member of HAA passed away. Ferenc Buda was born in Debrecen on 3 November 1936, the night that the poet Dezső Kosztolányi died. He was almost exactly twenty years old when the 1956 revolution was crushed by Russian tanks. Of the two conscious traditions this second one determined his life path more strongly, all the more so because he was tried and convicted for his poems written after the revolution was crushed. HAA regards his passing as losing one of its own.
